SYR does not contain the current config details for VNX. The Install Base (IB) feature in MyQuotes has shown to be un-reliable. For this reason, we have made an assumption that rack space is available for the upgrade configuration. We have built the config to include the proper data drives, spares, and DAEs to fulfill the request, and rack space should be verified.

(Raid)

The EMC best practices on VNX suggest using Raid 6 (6+2 default) for 1 TB and larger NL-SAS drives. VNX EFD and SAS drives will use RAID5 (4+1) unless otherwise specified in the sizing request or to meet the workload requirements. These RAID choices provide the best possible combination of performance and capacity and also help the overall reliability of the solution.

(Software upgrade)

In VNX software upgrades, existing drive count does not impact the quantity/model/price of software licenses added. IB data information has shown to be unreliable. To complete the configuration in MyQuotes, we have assumed one DAE fully populated (vault + 11 drives) as existing. However if you need existing array details to be populated correctly, please provide us with current drive information or SP collects.

VNXe VAULT Drive Request

In VNXe Models, Vault is in-built in the form of flash memory and it cannot be altered.

The EMC best practices for FAST VP on Symmetrix suggest using RAID5 3+1 for the EFD tier, RAID 1 for the FC tier, and RAID6 6+2 for the SATA tier. These RAID choices provide the best possible combination of performance and capacity and also help the overall reliability of the solution.

SYR reports software installed in the entire site and it is not possible to tell what is installed in the current box. So I have not assumed any SW as existing. Please let me know what are the existing SW installed in this array so that I can update the quote to get the necessary Tier upgrades.

(Promo pack discount)

Since EFD drives are configured , So promo pack is going by default with the configuration. Hence i have configured recommended discount for those drives.

(Co-Term)

The HW maintenance cost is included with the upgrade part numbers. The maintenance period will be co-terminus with the existing.

(Dare)

Symmetrix Data at Rest Encryption is recommended for security. If required, it must be added now and cannot be selected at a later date. Kindly let me know if it is required.

Please note that 1TB of Capacity Upgrade License gets triggered by the configurator for every Software Upgrade in VMAX 10K and we do not have an option to remove that.

ViPR SRM PS NOTE

I have configured the ViPR SRM Solution for Isilon nodes with only 1 x PS-BAS-SRMSIMP (STANDARD IMPLEMENTATION FOR VIPR SRM) in ViPR SRM Solution for Isilon S210 Nodes as triggered by the configurator which can take care of ViPR SRM installation for up to 3 Data Centers and 25 Arrays. Please let me know if it needs to be altered.

Application protection suite” is a  part of “ Total protection suite”. But due to configurator issue “457-101-187 - VNX5800 Application Protection Suite=IC” is triggering additionally in summary. Kindly remove this additional software suite and maintenance of it.
